Master Machinery
Built for SEO,
From The Ground Up
How a New Zealand machinery manufacturer went from launching a brand new website with almost no organic search presence to building a structured product ecosystem that now ranks on page 1 for the high-intent searches contractors, operators and buyers actually make when looking for equipment.
The Challenge
Capture High-Value Buyers,
Improve Machinery Search Rankings
As demand for specialised heavy machinery solutions continued to grow, Master Machinery needed a stronger way to reach businesses actively searching for equipment online. Despite offering premium machinery and deep industry expertise, their website lacked the organic visibility needed to consistently attract qualified, high-intent buyers.
They approached us to strengthen search performance, improve keyword rankings, and drive consistent organic traffic from businesses actively researching machinery solutions across New Zealand.

The Client

A New Zealand
Manufacturer of
Purpose Built Machinery
Master Machinery designs and builds equipment for real New Zealand worksites. The range includes AquaMaster water carts, GradeMaster tractor graders, HydroMaster hydro vacuum excavators and SweepMaster road sweepers, all built around one goal: making tough jobs easier so work gets done efficiently and right.
The Market

Contractors Searching
for Specific Machinery
and Solutions
Across construction, roading, utilities, contracting and agriculture, NZ buyers search for very particular things: water carts, dust suppression, hydro excavation, tractor graders and road sweepers. The demand is real, but it is split across hire and buy, generic and branded terms, and problem, comparison and purchase intent.
The Problem

Great Machinery,
Almost Invisible
in Search
The products were proven, but the website was new. In mid-2025, it had almost no organic visibility due to weak SEO foundations: thin content, indexing gaps, missing structured data, and poorly defined product entities. Strong products were there, but search engines couldn’t surface them effectively.
The Problem Wasn’t the Product.
It Was Discoverability.
Master Machinery had the harder version of an SEO problem. There was no existing visibility to reposition, because there was barely any visibility at all. The site was new, and Google had very little signal to go on.
A purpose built machine that search engines cannot interpret, is a great product nobody can find online.
When we audited the site, the gaps were structural rather than cosmetic. Product pages were thin and were not defined as distinct entities, so Google could not tell the AquaMaster apart from the GradeMaster apart from the HydroMaster. Indexation was patchy, structured data threw errors, and internal linking did not connect products to industries or to the blog.
The job was not to fix a few rankings. It was to build an organic foundation from a standing start, so that every page, every product and every article worked together to tell search engines exactly what Master Machinery makes and who it is for.
Brand new domain, almost no organic footprint
In July and August 2025, the site averaged roughly 33 clicks and under 600 impressions a month. Google had very little to index or understand.
Products not defined as distinct entities
Thin product pages with no clear entity structure meant the range read as a list of names rather than a defined family of machines.
Indexation and structured data issues
Breadcrumb structured data errors, archive pages surfacing in results and indexing gaps were all working against early visibility.
Weak internal linking
Products, industries and blog content sat in silos with little connection, so relevance and authority had no clear paths to flow through the site.

The Insight
Buying Machinery
Happens in Three Stages.
Contractors rarely search for a brand on day one.
They start with a problem, move into comparison, and then look to buy.
We built and structured content so Master Machinery
shows up at all three stages, not just the last one.
1. The Problem
“How do I keep dust down on site? What is hydro excavation? Why does my crew keep losing time on grading?”
![]()
Low Commercial Intent
2. The Comparison
“Water cart vs water truck. Hire or buy a water cart. Hydro vacuum excavator vs digger. Skid frame vs water trailer.”
![]()
Growing Commercial intent
3. The Purchase
“Water trailers for sale NZ. AquaMaster 2000 price. Grader for sale NZ. Water cart trailer near me.”
![]()
High Commercial Intent
The Action Plan
We Didn’t Just Add Pages.
We Built an Entity.
The goal was to make Google understand Master Machinery as a manufacturer with
a defined product range, not a new website with some machinery listings.
Before
“A new website with some
machinery pages””
❌ Products read as unconnected names
❌ Thin pages with little context or use case
❌ No schema describing the products
❌ Content sitting in disconnected silos
After
“A NZ manufacturer with
a defined product range”
✅ Four core pillars established
✅ Product pages with specs, uses and comparisons
✅ Product, FAQ and Collection schema added sitewide
✅ Internal linking across products, industries and blogs
